SURF REPORT FOR JULY 8-9
Saturday
A weak easterly groundswell will create surf in the mostly thigh-high range with clean conditions from an early offshore breeze. Waist-high sets are possible along Brevard’s northernmost beaches.
Sunday
I expect surf heights to remain in the thigh-high range with clean lines again from a steady offshore wind. Late morning’s lower tide may provide the best chanch for longer rides.
Cocoa Beach ocean temperatures now average 76 degrees.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Bob Freeman has been surfing Brevard’s waves since 1966. He was also the first to surf several of North Carolina’s remote islands in the mid ’60s and travels frequently to surf in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Mexico and Hawaii. He provided his first surf reporting and weekend forecasts in 1968 live on WKKO radio from the RonJon Surf Shop on Cocoa Beach Pier. He was the 1968 Florida Men’s Surfing Champion and is the current Florida Legend’s Surfing Champion. He has gathered over 300 amateur 1st place awards in both shortboard and longboard divisions. He is a 2014 Inductee into the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame.
