Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Shooting Death of Stacy Petrocelli of Merritt Island

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of Stacy Petrocelli, 35, that occurred during the early morning hours of July 5 at 1020 Loring Street in Merritt Island.

According to Brevard County Sheriff’s Office PIO Tod Goodyear, Deputies were contacted shortly after midnight after receiving a disturbance call from a concerned neighbor. Upon arrival, the Deputies discovered an unsecured residence with blood.

“Shortly after the initial call, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from Cape Canaveral Hospital advising they had received a victim with a gunshot wound,” said Goodyear.

Upon arrival at the hospital, Deputies made contact with 36-year-old, Roger Petrocelli. The wife and victim was identified as 35-year-old Stacy Petrocelli, who was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

“The investigation to date has determined that the couple returned home on Loring Street after attending a Fourth of July party,” said Goodyear.

“After returning home, Mr. Petrocelli began handling a firearm when it allegedly discharged, striking his wife who was seated in the area. Mr. Petrocelli then transported his wife to the hospital for medical treatment.”

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate this case, and at this time no charges have been filed.

According to Goodyear, the victim was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office and the results of the autopsy are pending.
