Florida Tech Commencement Set For July 29 at Clemente Center, First Summer Graduation Since ’71

McCay to Offer Keynote Address

More than 350 graduate and undergraduate students will participate in Florida Institute of Technology’s summer commencement starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — More than 350 graduate and undergraduate students will participate in Florida Institute of Technology’s summer commencement starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29.

The ceremony is the the first all-university summertime graduation at Florida Tech since 1971, when 18 students participated in the ceremony at what was then called Gleason Auditorium and a total of 30 diplomas were awarded.

The location has changed and the numbers have grown over the last 46 years.

There will be an expected 355 students attending the ceremony at the Charles and Ruth Clemente Center on the Florida Tech campus, comprised of 258 graduate students and 97 undergraduates. The students represent more than a dozen states and 31 countries.

Overall, the university will bestow 619 degrees, including 262 degrees earned online and 113 from Florida Tech’s off-site locations.

Florida Tech President Dwayne McCay will offer remarks at the ceremony.
