Port Canaveral Officials Welcome RUAG Space USA During Grand Opening at Port’s Logistics Center

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Canaveral Port Authority Commissioners and Port staff joined with local and state officials and space industry leaders to mark the official opening of the RUAG Space USA, Inc. manufacturing facility at the Port Canaveral Logistics Center in Titusville, Fla.

Members of the Florida State Department of Economic Opportunity, the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast, community and business leaders, and other dignitaries attended the recent ceremony.

RUAG Space USA officials provided tours of its recently completed 23,800 sq. ft. facility, which the company has leased from Port Canaveral.

“Port Canaveral is committed to being a world-class gateway for commerce and an economic driver for Central Florida,” said Port CEO Capt. John Murray.

“Today’s opening marks an exciting beginning, not only for Port Canaveral, but for our entire region.  We are proud to be partners with these leaders in space and communication technology and look forward to their growth.”

Cutting-edge Swiss technology company RUAG will begin production immediately at this U.S. manufacturing site for satellite manufacturing giant, OneWeb Satellites.

Both companies are now doing business in Brevard County with innovative, high efficiency operations as part of Florida’s expanding commercial space industry. RUAG has projected up to 50 jobs in four to five years.

OneWeb estimates it satellite production project will generate up to 625 jobs for the region, including those at RUAG Space USA.

This official opening comes just eight months after RUAG Space USA signed on as one of the Port’s tenants leasing space in the 246,736-square-foot Port Canaveral Logistics Center at 7700 U.S. 1, Titusville.

In November 2016, RUAG announced plans to create a manufacturing plant to produce structural and thermal equipment for spacecrafts.

Led by the elected five-member Canaveral Port Authority Board of Commissioners and Port Director and CEO, Captain John Murray, Port Canaveral is one of the world’s most dynamic and exciting ports.

A world-class gateway for cruises, cargo, recreation and logistics, as well asa gateway to new frontiers, including space, Port Canaveral hosts more than 4 million revenue cruise passengers through its state-of-the-art terminals and 5.5 million of tons of cargo annually, including bulk, break-bulk, project, and containerized.

The Port is strategically located to service all Florida markets, as well as the Southeastern United States.
