Titusville Police SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiation Team Respond To Barricaded Man

Negotiations resulted in peaceful conclusion

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville police officers responded to a report of an adult male barricaded in his home located in the 1600 block of Milton Street at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
According to Titusville Police Department Public Information Officer Amy Matthews, the incident began when a 62-year-old Titusville man had barricaded himself in his home and made threats of harming himself and others.
“Negotiations by police resulted in a peaceful conclusion to the incident,” said Matthews.
“At approximately 1:30 p.m., the man was taken into custody, Baker Acted and transported to a local medical facility.”
In response to crucial investigative information acquired by police, the Titusville Police S.W.A.T. Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were deployed to the residence.
Matthews said that community members within a two mile radius of the man’s home were issued a reverse 911 message with information pertaining to the ongoing situation.
The man’s identity was not released by police.
