University of Florida Takes Top Spot In Schools.com Rating For Best Four-Year Florida College

University of Central Florida was fifth

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The online educational resource Schools.com released its rankings of the best four-year colleges and universities in Florida, and the University of Florida took the top spot. 

The University of South Florida can in second, and locally, the University of Central Florida was fifth.

UF also earned the No. 5 spot on the nationwide list, beating out 1,649 colleges and universities across the country.

The Sunshine State boasts a diverse mix of public and private universities and colleges that offer degrees both on-campus and online.

The State University System of Florida includes 12 public universities. Some of these institutions have flagship campuses as well as satellite locations to make them more accessible.

As for private institutions, Independent Colleges & Universities of Florida represents 30 not-for-profit schools across the state.

Some students may prefer to begin their education at a two-year school. In that case, the Florida College System includes 28 member schools that offer both technical training and associate degrees.

Thanks to the “2+2 system,” those earning an A.A. degree at a Florida community college can easily transfer their credits to one of the state’s public universities or a participating private institution.

The top 10 schools on the Schools.com rankings are:

1. University of Florida;
2. University of South Florida-Main Campus;
3. Florida International University;
4. The University of West Florida;
5. University of Central Florida;
6. New College of Florida;
7. Florida Atlantic University;
8. University of North Florida;
9. Florida State University;
10. University of South Florida-St. Petersburg.
