SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA – In almost a perfect team performance, with all players performing well, the USA mens soccer team defeated Jamaica 2-1 to win the Gold Cup – their 6th Gold Cup win – as champions of CONCACAF.

The winning goal was scored by Stanford University’s Jordan Morris in the 88th minute – a player who had to prove a point to USA manager Bruce Arena.

Since taking over as manager, the always calm, cool and collected Bruce Arena is undefeated with a 14 game undefeated streak.

Captain Michael Bradley was ecstatic.

“It did not come easy but this is what it’s all about. Our guys left everything on the field,” said Bradley.

“This was about a group of guys winning a trophy and we are going to enjoy this.”

Jozy Altidore, USA striker, played the entire 93 minutes and scored the USA’s opening goal with a spectacular free kick.

“This means a lot to me and our team. Bruce Arena is a fun guy and he keeps it light – he has done a great job” said Altidore.

The Reggae Boyz goalkeeper had a tremendous night, turning away the USA time after time, including a Clint Dempsey header when the teams were tied at 1-1.

Michael Bradley was outstanding and was awarded the Golden Ball for the tournament.

38 year-old USA goalkeeper Tim Howard was a rock, leading the USA defense.

“As you get older these wins mean so much. We got better all through the tournament and I’m so proud,” said Howard.
