BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Brevard Public Schools Superintendent Desmond Blackburn wants to hear from North Brevard teachers, staff, parents and business partners at a town hall meeting on Thursday, Aug. 24 in Port St. John.
School Board Chairwoman Misty Belford of Titusville will host the free event from 5:30-7 p.m. at Space Coast Jr./Sr. High, located at 6150 Banyan Street.
It will be the first in a series of five town-hall events across Brevard County. BPS employees are encouraged – but not required – to attend.
After a short state-of-our-schools address by Blackburn, residents will be invited to pose questions and share comments on how BPS can improve service to them.
BPS is inviting all stakeholders to attend including grandparents, employers, city and county officials and members of nonprofit and advocacy groups.
The goal is to empower residents to help chart the direction of education and school policy in Brevard. The public setting will not be a good venue for families to air private issues involving individual students.
UPCOMING TOWN HALL MEETINGS
• Aug. 31 – Bayside High, Palm Bay
• Sept. 28 – Viera High
• Oct. 5 – Merritt Island High
• Oct. 12 – Satellite High
