NEXT EVENT SET Aug. 31 AT Bayside High
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Brevard Public Schools Superintendent Desmond Blackburn talked with North Brevard teachers, staff, parents and business partners at a town hall meeting last Thursday in Port St. John.
School Board Chairwoman Misty Belford of Titusville hosted the free event at Space Coast Jr./Sr. High.
It was the first in a series of five town-hall events across Brevard County. BPS employees were encouraged – but not required – to attend.
After a short state-of-our-schools address by Blackburn, residents asked questions and shared comments on how BPS can improve service to them.
BPS is hosting several more Town Hall meetings and invites all stakeholders to attend, including grandparents, employers, city and county officials and members of nonprofit and advocacy groups.
The goal is to empower residents to help chart the direction of education and school policy in Brevard. The public setting will not be a good venue for families to air private issues involving individual students.
UPCOMING TOWN HALL MEETINGS
• Aug. 31 – Bayside High, Palm Bay
• Sept. 28 – Viera High
• Oct. 5 – Merritt Island High
• Oct. 12 – Satellite High
