BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s golf team will be busy as the team faces some stiff competition this fall.

The Titans come into the season with a veteran group as seven players return from last year’s team that finished third in the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament. The men have five events this fall where they will face some of the best teams in the NJCAA as well as two events against Division II teams.

“We have three guys that went to nationals coming back in Fraser (Davren), Mathieu (Echelard) and Ryan (Rozic) and then we have Kyle (Decenzo), Greg (Darnell), Josh (Postlewait), Patxi (Londaitz) all back and know the routine. They know what is coming and what to expect so I will lean on them,” Eastern Florida State College men’s golf coach Jamie Howell said.

“I need leadership from the sophomores and at the same time I want the stability there that things will get done because they know what to expect.”

The Titans will begin the fall season with the Wallace State Invitational in Alabama Sept. 11-12 and then have two home events beginning with the District 4 Preview Oct. 2-3 and then will play Florida Tech in the Collegiate Players Cup which is a Ryder Cup type of event.

“We play stroke play all the time and then you throw a ‘Ryder Cup’ event in there, it is different,” Howell said. “It allows them to play a little bit differently than they normally would. You lose a hole, not an entire round. At the same time, they have to be a little more strategic. It is good competition every year and it will be interesting to see the ladies mix in this year.”

The Titans will round out the month of October with the McDonough Cup in Orlando Oct. 30-31.The final event of the fall will be Nov. 13 and 14 in the Central Alabama Fall Intercollegiate event in Montgomery, Alabama.
