Eastern Florida State College Volleyball Team Finishes Weekend Tournament 4-0

The Eastern Florida State College women’s volleyball team finished the weekend a perfect 4-0 in the Indian River State-Eastern Florida State College tournament at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s volleyball team finished the weekend a perfect 4-0 in the Indian River State-Eastern Florida State College tournament at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.

“We did really well, today was a little inconsistent and we struggled through some patches. We need to work on finishing when we have a team down, but overall really happy with how they played this weekend,” Eastern Florida State College volleyball head coach Andrea Rasmussen said.

“We saw some really great things that we can build off of this season.”

The Titans opened Day 2 against Mid-Florida Conference foe St. Johns River and won in four sets, 25-15, 25-22, 18-25, 25-15.

Freshman Ariel Letcher and sophomore Kylie Hurst led the attack as Letcher finished with 11 kills and Hurst added nine. Teammate Elisa Pauzer finished with seven blocks while Barbara Cabo Grubisic had a strong all-around match with 28 assists, three kills and three aces.

In the final match of the day the Titans squared off against Lake Sumter State College and won in straight sets 25-20, 28-26 and 25-22.

After locking up the first set, the Titans were down 18-11 in the second set before rallying back as Gubisic had a block to make the score 24-24, then an ace to give the Titans a 25-24 lead. But Lake Sumter came back to tie but Hurst had a big kill to help give the Titans the win 28-26.

Lechter once again led the team with 13 kills while Hurst had eight kills, two blocks and an ace and Lorrayne Silva finished with six kills, two blocks and an ace. Pauzer had six blocks in the match.

The Titans will travel to Bradenton to face SCF-Manatee on Tuesday night before hosting St. Johns River State College Thursday night at 6 p.m. Thursday night’s game will be broadcast on WEFS-TV live on WEFS-TV and streamed live at www.njcaatv.com/efsc
