FPL has no plans to shut down power

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – With Hurricane Irma bearing down on the Florida peninsula and Brevard County, Florida Power and Light is offering a Hurricane Irma Storm Center Outage Map for all of its customers.
The Space Coast, which is now under a Hurricane Warning, will begin feeling the impact of the storm starting Sunday morning with tropical storm-force winds that will strengthen throughout the day and into Monday.

“All of us at FPL are now making final preparations for the landfall of Hurricane Irma,” said FPL officials.
“With a storm of this magnitude and intensity, each hour of preparation counts in order to keep delivering power to our customers and restoring it once the storm has passed. Safety continues to be our top priority.”
FPL has no plans to shut down power to its customers in advance of the storm.
“We have adequate power to continue serving all customers. Our goal is to continue providing electric service through the storm until it’s no longer possible to do so.”
Restoring power safely
After the storm hits, FPL crews will begin working to restore power as soon as conditions are safe.
Once restoration begins, FPL’s goal is to get as many customers up and running as soon as possible – and won’t stop working until every last customer is reconnected.
