Following an impressive performance in Florida Tech’s victory in its Gulf South Conference opener, running back Antwuan Haynes has been named the GSC’s Offensive Player of the Week.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Following an impressive performance in Florida Tech’s victory in its Gulf South Conference opener, running back Antwuan Haynes has been named the GSC’s Offensive Player of the Week.

It’s Haynes’ second time garnering the league’s Offensive Player of the Week award, also earning the honor during the 2016 season.

The Fort Lauderdale, Florida product racked up 223 all-purpose yards in the Panthers’ 31-6 victory over Shorter on Saturday night at Florida Tech Panther Stadium.

Haynes carried the ball 19 times for a season-high 188 yards (9.9 yards per attempt) and two touchdowns on the ground.

It was the junior’s 7th career 100-yard rushing game.

Haynes was also FIT’s leading receiver in the win, hauling in three catches for 35 yards.

Through the first three games, Haynes has 32 carries for 250 rushing yards and three touchdowns, in addition to 103 receiving yards and a touchdown on eight receptions.

Haynes and the rest of the FIT football team return to action this Saturday, Sept. 23, taking on GSC foe Mississippi College on the road in Clinton, Mississippi.

Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET at Robinson-Hale Stadium.
