BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Dr. Romain Onteniente has joined Merritt Island Foot and Ankle and is now practicing as a member of its skilled podiatry team, which also includes Dr. Mark Beylin and Dr. Alexander F. San Diego, Jr.

Merritt Island Foot and Ankle is a state-of-the-art podiatry practice that utilizes the latest techniques to resolve your foot and ankle problems as quickly as possible.

With convenient locations in Merritt Island and Viera, the doctors treat patients of all ages from small children to the elderly.

“We accept most insurance plans and our Merritt Island and Melbourne office locations allow us to treat patients from all over Brevard County,” said Dr. Beylin.

“Our goal is always to provide you with the most comfortable office experience possible. We also specialize in foot care for diabetics and offer custom foot orthotics.”

Dr. Romain Onteniente graduated with a doctorate in Podiatric Medicine in 2014 before joining the prestigious and rigorous forefoot and rear foot reconstruction residency program at Mercy hospital under the supervision of renown charcot reconstruction specialist Dr. Thomas Merrill and sport medicine specialist Dr James Losito.

HIGHLY QUALIFIED, NOTED PHILANTHROPIST

Dr. Onteniente is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University where he graduated with honors receiving a Bachelor of science majoring in biology, with minors in chemistry and psychology in 3 years.

He was a professional soccer player for the Tampa Bay Rowdies before returning to his true calling and enrolling at Barry University.

He graduated with a doctorate in Podiatric Medicine in 2014 before joining the prestigious and rigorous forefoot and rear foot reconstruction residency program at Mercy Hospital under the supervision of renown charcot reconstruction specialist Dr. Thomas Merrill and sport medicine specialist Dr James Losito.

He graduated from the residency program as Chief Resident in June 2017.

During his time at Barry University he co-founded the nonprofit organization called Podiatry Overseas which has the goal to send foot and ankle surgeons to remote areas of the world to help those in need.

Dr. Onteniente and his group have been traveling yearly since 2013 to regions of Africa, Brazil, Guyana and helped hundreds of patients suffering from congenital deformities, traumatic injuries, diabetic complications and others pathologies of the lower extremities.

Dr. Onteniente background is French, where he was born and raised before moving to America to attend Nova Southeastern University on a soccer scholarship.

Sports medicine, trauma and cosmetic procedures have always been at the core of his training, while adding congenital deformities and pediatric pathologies as well as wound care, diabetic complications and charcot reconstructions to his list.

He is certified in hyperbaric medicine and wound care.

Dr. Onteniente enjoys good food, boating, fishing and soccer in his spare time.

DR. MARK BEYLIN TRAINED IN ANKLE JOINT REPLACEMENT

Dr. Mark Beylin attended and graduated from the University of Miami with a B.A. degree in 1995.

After completing his undergraduate studies, he enrolled at Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine where he excelled through the years earning a spot in Phi Delta National Honor Society and graduating in the top 10 percent of his class.

Dr. Beylin then did a three-year surgical training at Northwest Medical Center serving as chief resident the last two years there. His post graduate training offered him a great deal of exposure to a vast variety of medical and surgical treatments of foot, ankle, and lower leg pathology.

His particular interests are in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine, trauma, pediatrics, Charcot foot reconstruction, and diabetic foot care.

Dr. Beylin is one of a few surgeons in Central Florida who is trained on both the In-Bone and STARR ankle joint replacement.

Dr. Beylin has been practicing in Brevard County for the last 17 years. He was a partner and is now the owner of Merritt Island Foot and Ankle, Inc., offering people in Brevard his medical expertise.

Dr. Beylin is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, Florida Podiatric Medical Association, American Podiatric Medical Association, and American Podiatric Practice Management Association.

In his free time, Dr. Beylin is dedicated to his daughter who is enjoying her care free preschool years.

DR. ALEXANDER SAN DIEGO PROVIDES HIGH LEVEL OF CARE

Dr. Alexander San Diego Jr., who recently joined the practice, received his undergraduate degree from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.

He graduated in 2006 with a major in Biological Science. He completed his medical education at Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, which is now known as Kent State College of Podiatric Medicine in 2012.

From 2012 to 2015, Dr. San Diego began his post-graduate training at Palmetto General Hospital in Miami, Florida.

During his intense surgical residency program at a level 2 trauma hospital, Dr. San Diego Jr. gained knowledge and experience with trauma of lower extremity, reconstructive surgery, diabetic limb salvage, wound care and sports medicine.

After completing his residency program, Dr. San Diego Jr. moved to Brevard County to join the esteemed practice of Merritt Island Foot and Ankle.

Dr. San Diego Jr. strives to provide patients with the highest level of attention and care. He specializes in surgical and conservative treatments of foot and ankle fractures, lower extremity trauma, reconstructive surgery, diabetic limb salvage, wound care, sports medicine, and many other conditions of the foot and ankle in children and adults.

Dr. San Diego constantly attends conferences, workshops and lectures around the country to stay current with the latest treatment techniques.

As Dr. San Diego is proudly from Wisconsin, his favorite sports team is the Green Bay Packers. His hobbies include sports, fishing, music, and spending time with family and friends.
