BREVARD COUNTY • SATELLITE BEACH, FLORIDA – The Space Coast and all of Central Florida has a rooting interest in the upcoming season of the hit CBS television show, Survivor, which will start tonight at 8 p.m. on CBS.

Brevard County’s own Ashley Nolan will appear as a contestant on the long running reality television series in hopes of claiming the $1 million prize that comes with being the lone castaway remaining on the show.

Season 35 of Survivor, Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers was filmed in Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands and debuts September 27 at 8 p.m. on CBS.

Nolan is currently a captain on the Brevard County Ocean Rescue squad where she in one of the best lifeguards on Space Coast beaches.

She is a 2009 graduate of Satellite High School where she was an All-Space Coast Volleyball Player.

Nolan then went on to Eastern Florida State College where she played volleyball for the Titans in 2009 and 2010.

She studied Emergency Medical Services at Eastern Florida State College and attained personal training certification from the American Council on Exercise.

Nolan was one of hundreds of potential castaways that auditioned for a shot to be on the hit show at Victory Casino Cruises located in Port Canaveral.

This season will feature a new twist, as the show will have 18 contestants divided up into three tribes. For the first time in the show’s 17-year history, contestants will be divided based on personality and characteristic traits that others associate them with.

They will be a “Hero,” a “Healer” or a “Hustler.”

Nolan, who has been heralded for her courage, achievements and ideas for which she stands, is a natural fit for the “Hero” tribe.

The show is ultra-competitive where members are voted off the show each week for any number of reasons.

Those reasons can be anything from performing badly during a competition, to having a bad attitude or simply being the most gifted contestant on the show.

While there are teams and competitions in which the contestants must work together throughout the season, in the end, only one contestant is crowned the “Survivor” winner.

Brevard’s Ashley Nolan, who has been heralded for her courage, achievements and ideas for which she stands, is in the “Hero” tribe.

Winning Survivor is no easy task. Contestants must be in tip top physical and mental shape. It’s possible that we could see Nolan and all of the contestants be a Hero, Healer and a Hustler throughout the season in order to collect the million dollars.

“For the first time in my life I’ve gotta let people sink and I’m not going to take any mercy,” said the Satellite Beach lifesaver during the shows preview clip.

Althought the entire cast can be found HERE, CBS has only revealed six of the eventual 18 castaways.

The Hollywood Reporter was the only media outlet on location for Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, speaking with all of the contestants before the game’s launch, and observing the first three days that will form the basis of the season premiere.

They revealed that Nolan wrote in her bio that the previous Survivor contestant she most resembles was the show’s original winner back in 2000, Richard Hatch.

“He seemed to have the right idea,” she wrote in her bio and the Reporter revealed something else, both of them have been bitten by sharks.

“It’s a pretty mild story,” Ashley laughs as she told the story. “People hear ‘bitten by a shark,’ and it’s like… it’s not always as vicious as it seems. It just barely broke the skin.”

Ashley was also a player in the Lingerie Football League for the Orlando Fantasy, where, in 2011, she tore her ACL and partially fractured a bone in her knee.

If some of the contestant’s bios revealed to date are any indication of what Ashley is up against, then winning Season 35 is going to be an extremely tough challenge.

Nolan will face Ben Driebergen, a 34-year-old, former Marine; Alan Ball, a former NFL player, who most recently played with the Bears; and John Paul Hilsabeck, a 28-year-old firefighter.

Some of Nolan’s revealed female competitors are Christine Hofbeck, a 46-year-old actuary, and Katrina Radke Gerry, a 46-year old motivational speaker, sports psychologist and a former Olympic swimmer.

Ashley isn’t the only contestant from the Sunshine State on Season 35. Dr. Mike Zahalsky, 43, a Urologist from Pompano Beach, Florida is also on the show.

Survivor is the American version of the international Survivor reality competition television franchise, itself derived from the Swedish television series Expedition Robinson created by Charlie Parsons, which premiered in 1997.

The American series premiered in May 2000 on CBS and is hosted by television personality Jeff Probst, who is also an executive producer along with Mark Burnett and original creator, Parsons.
