AAA: Gas Prices Set For Another Week of Declines After 5-Cent Drop Last Week

FLORIDA – Florida gas prices averaged $2.62 on Sunday.

The state average dropped 5 cents during the past week. Since peaking at $2.73 on September 14, the state average has declined 17 consecutive days for a total of 11 cents.

Despite the recent downturn, Florida gas prices are averaging 47 cents more than this time last year.

The most expensive gas price averages in Florida are in West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($2.72), Miami ($2.70), and Fort Lauderdale ($2.66).

The least expensive gas price averages in Florida are in Pensacola ($2.54), Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater ($2.55), and Fort Myers-Cape Coral ($2.57).

“No need to rush to the pump, gas prices should get even cheaper as the week progresses,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA-The Auto Club Group.

“Prices are still inflated after hurricanes Irma and Harvey, but will keep falling as refinery operations, supplies, imports and exports return to normal. Pump prices have another 20 cents to fall before reaching equilibrium. Expect another 5-10 cent drop this week.”
