BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College recently announced the receipt of a $5,000 check from the Running Zone Foundation to benefit the Collegiate Veterans Society.

The donation came as proceeds from the annual Running Zone Firecracker 5K. It will benefit the Collegiate Veterans Society Scholarship Fund at the Eastern Florida State College Foundation.

“We selected the Veterans Society Fund this year because we wanted the beneficiary of the proceeds to be patriotic, and a veterans’ scholarship fund seemed to fit perfectly,” said Denise Piercy, Race Director of the Firecracker 5K.

“We loved that it would help men and women that have served our country transition to civilian life through educational scholarships.”

Kimberly Paige, Coordinator of Military and Veterans Services at EFSC, accepted the check on behalf of the scholarship fund.
