NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – A High Surf Advisory in effect through 4 a.m. Monday for hazardous conditions along the coast.

High onshore winds will create large breaking waves and a moderate risk of rip currents, be sure to use caution.

On average, rip currents and dangerous surf cause more fatalities on the east coast of Florida than hurricanes, tornadoes and lightning combined.

Almost 100 percent of those fatalities occurred because the victims chose to enter the ocean away from crowds where there are no lifeguards.
