Tractor Trailer Driver Dies After Train Crash On Beau Geste Road Monday Morning

**UPDATE**BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The driver of tractor trailer that was struck on Beau Geste Rd. Monday morning has died.

Steven Derek Tobinson, 49, from Lakeland, died as a result from his injuries at Holmes Regional Medical Center.

Florida Highway Patrol has released more information on a tractor trailer vs. train crash that happened late Monday morning on Beau Geste Rd. and Cocoa Blvd.

The crash injured two people with one of those people still in critical condition, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The early investigation has revealed that Steven Derek Tobinson, 49, from Lakeland, was driving the tractor trailer eastbound on Beau Geste Rd. when he drove around the activated railroad traffic signal and lowered arms crossing Beau Geste Rd, according to FHP.

As a result, a train traveling northbound slammed into a portion of the tractor trailer and briefly carried the vehicle north.

The result of the collision caused the train to derail, as well.

Tobinson was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the train suffered only minor injuries and has not yet been identified.

Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
