Man arrested after trying to bypass checkpoint

A man was reportedly arrested Monday after trying to drive onto a Royal Air Force base in eastern England, used by the U.S. Air Force.

(CBS NEWS) – A man was reportedly arrested Monday after trying to drive onto a Royal Air Force base in eastern England, used by the U.S. Air Force.

Police and other officials would confirm only that they had responded to an unspecified incident at RAF Mildenhall, in eastern England’s Suffolk county.

CBS News partner network BBC News cited the Ministry of Defense as saying the incident involved an individual trying to force his way through a checkpoint in his vehicle.

There were no reports of injuries, and the nature of the incident remained unclear.
