Eastern Florida State Men’s, Women’s Basketball Teams Register Wednesday Wins

Men win 10th in a row, LADIES IMPROVE TO 7-2

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Michael Nuga scored a career-high 32 points to lead the Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team to its 10th straight victory, 118-78 Wednesday night at Titan Field House. 

Nuga came out fast scoring six of the first 11 points against ASA Miami and started what would be a 10-0 run later in the first half as the Titans were up 22-4. Nuga and Ahmed Ali continued to lead the way, combining for 35 of the team’s 57 points at halftime.

The Titans came out in the second half and rattled off a 21-3 run to open the game up as five different players scored during the run.

The Titans hit the 100-point mark with 8:48 remaining and have scored over 110 points in four of the 12 games this season.

Ali finished with 19 points while Shaq Carter and Nathanael Jack each had 15 points. Ezekiel Balogun had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Titans who are now 11-1 on the season.

Eastern Florida State College, who are No. 7 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, will head to Gainesville for the JUCO Shootout this weekend for a couple of games against top 25 teams.

On Saturday the Titans will face No. 10 Florida Southwestern and then play No. 22 Chipola on Sunday.

OCALA, FLORIDA — The Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball team defeated the College of Central Florida 72-53 on the road Wednesday night.

Titans point guard Brianna Lewis had 21 points, five rebounds and four assists in the game while teammate Alexandrine Obouh Fegue posted her eighth straight double double of the season, scoring 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

Ieva Spigule finished with 14 points and Mariah Batz had 12 points as the Titans improved to 7-2 on the season.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Daytona State College on Wednesday before hosting ASA Miami on Friday night in the team’s home opener.

Game time is 5:30 p.m. and admission is free.
