UPDATE: Florida Highway Patrol Has Identified Shariff Elsamaloty as Victim of Fatal Motorcycle Crash

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The Florida Highway Patrol has identified Shariff Elsamaloty, 24, of Merritt Island as the victim of a fatal crash on Thursday evening on Merritt Island.
According to Sergeant Kim Montes, Florida Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer, a 16-year-old Merritt Island man was traveling southbound in a 2006 Dodge pickup truck on Courtenay Parkway as Elsamaloty was traveling northbound on Courtenay Parkway.
Sgt. Montes said that the pickup truck driver attempted to make a left turn onto Venetian Way and pulled into the direct path of Elsamaloty.
The front of Elsamaloty’s motorcycle struck the right side of the pickup truck and the victim was ejected and died on scene.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
This crash remains under investigation and charges are pending, according to Sgt. Montes.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are on the scene of a fatal crash that occurred in Brevard County at 5:15 p.m.
“The crash is reported to FHP as a vehicle vs a motorcycle,” said Sergeant Kim Montes, Florida Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer.
“The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on scene.”
According to Sgt. Montes, the crash occurred on Courtenay Parkway and Venetian Way on Merritt Island.
The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next-of-kin.
