(FLORIDA FISH AND WILDLIFE) — Some turtles live in fresh water, while others prefer their water to be a bit saltier. However, this unique turtle enjoys a combination of both.
Diamondback terrapins live exclusively in brackish water habitats, such as mangroves, estuaries and barrier islands, which have more salinity than fresh water but not as much as seawater.
Terrapins can be found along our entire coastline, eating a variety of mollusks and crustaceans. Watch this video of a terrapin taking a plunge into the water!
