Life in Prison without Parole

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – I am very proud to announce that earlier this afternoon, 55-year-old, Meinrad Kopp, a German citizen and resident of Switzerland, was sentenced to Life in Prison without Parole by a Federal Judge in Orlando, Florida.
He was convicted of attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity with the enhancement of overseas travel. Kopp was also ordered to pay a $250,000 fine as part of his sentence.
Kopp traveled to Orlando, Florida, on June 16, 2017, and was arrested by Agents of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office working with Homeland Security Investigations. Kopp had communicated via the Internet, with a Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Agent acting in an undercover capacity as the father of a minor child, about engaging the child in a range of sexual activities, including sadomasochistic conduct.
Kopp disclosed his intent to humiliate the child by treating her like a dog and causing her pain. During an interview with law enforcement, Kopp admitted that he had traveled to Orlando for the purpose of engaging a minor in sexual activity.
This investigation was a cooperative effort by Agents from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and U.S. Custom and Immigration Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office.
As a law enforcement officer and father I am so thankful that we have such an incredible investigative team of Agents within our agency as well as such wonderful partnerships with our Federal Law Enforcement Agencies and Assistant United States Attorneys.
Through their commitment to protect our most vulnerable citizens, the world is a better place tonight because this disgusting predator will never again harm a child!
