BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Move over Katharine, here comes Savannah, a 460-pound Great White Shark, who was “pinged” just south off the Canaveral National Seashore yesterday evening at 6 p.m. by Ocearch, a shark research and advocacy group.
“I’m a sassy white shark from Lowcountry who may be young now but just wait until I become the queen of Savannah,” said Savannah’s Twitter page.
Savannah was named to celebrate the people of Savannah, Georgia where she was tagged during Lowcountry Expedition.
Savannah is 8-feet 6-inches long and was tagged last March off Hilton Head, South Carolina. Since last March she has traveled more than 3,367 miles.
