(FOX NEWS) – President Trump is in “excellent health,” the White House doctor said Friday after the president underwent his first medical checkup since becoming president.

“The president’s physical exam today at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center went exceptionally well,” Dr. Ronny Jackson, the president’s physician, said in a statement.

Jackson added that “the president is in excellent health and I look forward to briefing some of the details on Tuesday.”

The president’s physical examination came amid suggestions in a recent book and by his detractors that he’s mentally unfit.

Trump himself has pushed back hard against any suggestion that he’s mentally unfit, this week declaring himself “a very stable genius.”

The examination lasted several hours and considered such things as Trump’s blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, heart rate and weight.
