Florida Tech’s Jordan Majors Named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech men’s basketball’s Jordan Majors has been named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
This is the first career SSC weekly honor for Majors.
The redshirt senior averaged 23.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game, and shot .556 (15-for-27) from the field and .923 (12-for-13) on free throws to help Florida Tech earn a 1-1 record last week, including an upset victory over No. 7 Barry on the road that handed the Bucs their first SSC loss of the season.
In FIT’s loss to Florida Southern on Wednesday, the guard recorded 20 points, two assists and two steals and went 7-for-7 from the free throw line.
In Saturday’s 96-83 win over SSC-leading Barry, the Hopkinsville, Kentucky product notched a game-high 26 points on 9-for-15 shooting, 5-for-6 from the charity stripe, with three rebounds and three steals.
Majors’ performance helped FIT end a five-game losing streak to the Bucs and knock off a Top-10 opponent for the first time since taking down No. 4 Barry, 88-72, at the Clemente Center on Feb. 18, 2015.
Through 15 games this season, Majors is averaging 20.7 points on 48 percent shooting, 4.3 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. He has scored at least 20 points in nine of the last 11 games.
Majors will look to lead the Panthers to another SSC road victory when Florida Tech travels to Saint Leo on Wednesday, Jan. 10, for a showdown with the Lions at 7:30 p.m. ET.
