BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Recently, we wished a very happy retirement to longtime Brevard County Sheriff’s Office family member Major Don Barker.

Don has enjoyed an incredible career with our agency and leaves behind a legacy of professionalism and valued public service.

Don was hired on January 11, 1988, by former Sheriff Jake Miller. During his 30 years with the agency, Don was assigned to several different units and positions to include Deputy, Agent, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Major. During the majority of his career, Don was assigned to the Canaveral and Port Canaveral Precinct where he proved himself to be an outstanding asset. Don has received hundreds of letters of Commendation, Unit Citations and Merit Bars during his career for exceptional service.

Don is fondly known for his calm demeanor and laugh and will be dearly missed!

Please join me in congratulating Don for his incredible efforts and commitment to our agency and citizens and also in wishing him a very relaxing, fun and well-deserved retirement! We wish Don the absolute best in the next chapter of his life and greatly appreciate his amazing dedication!
