BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The 2018 St. Baldrick’s Brevard Big Shave Event is set for Saturday, March 17, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at The Avenue Viera.

Be a hero for kids with cancer and join this St. Baldrick’s event, and whether you decide to shave your head, volunteer, or donate, we hope you’ll be a part of the excitement.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-powered charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.

Get involved and you’ll be giving hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers.

“The St. Baldrick’s Foundation focuses on celebrating kids and funding the most promising research to give them the happy childhoods they deserve,” said The Avenue Viera General Manager, and Big Shave organizer, Scott McCarthy.

“The Foundation is known for its signature head-shaving events where volunteers shave their heads to raise funds for childhood cancer research.”

DEDICATED TO ERADICATE TOP KILLER OF CHILDREN

In the U.S., one in five children diagnosed with cancer will not survive. Of the U.S. federal funding for cancer research, only 4 percent is solely dedicated to childhood cancers. More children are lost to cancer in the U.S. than any other disease.

“Childhood cancer research is largely underfunded, which is why foundations like St. Baldrick’s are so important,” said McCarthy.
