Alleged Shooter In Custody In Stoneman Douglas High School Shooting In “Mass Causality Incident”

BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA (WSVN) – The Broward County Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie has confirmed there have been numerous fatalities following a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed that they have taken a suspect into custody in connection to the shooting that injured as many as 14 victims.

Deputies arrested the suspect in the Wyndham Lakes community in Coral Springs, just before 4 p.m.

Speaking with reporters just after 4:15 p.m., Runcie said, “I don’t know the number that’s been transported at this point, but there are numerous fatalities. It’s a horrific situation.”

Runcie also said the shooter may be a former student.

“Yes, it is potentially some former student,” Runcie said. “That individual, we believe, is in custody at the moment.”
