BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Earlier this week as part of our continued effort to help protect our citizens and businesses, Corporal Pam Hibbs and Corrections Deputy Alison Blazewicz, of our Community Services Unit, conducted a Business Security Survey at the First United Methodist Church of Cocoa Beach.

The staff at First United Methodist Church had requested that our agency conduct a security survey on the property to ensure that their church members and staff stay safe in the event of an emergency, break-in or active shooter situation.

Our Business and Home Security Surveys allow our Deputies to conduct security surveys at local businesses and residences to make sure that our homes and businesses are hard targets against crimes and not easy targets for criminals.

During the surveys, Deputies and Crime Prevention Specialists develop a list of recommended improvements that can be made in an effort to better protect the premises and those inside. Upon completion, the home owners and business leaders receive a personalized written report that includes a plan of action for improving security measures at the structure so it can be maintained as a safe and secure facility.

As part of the program, each location once surveyed is provided signs and window stickers that alert would be criminals to the fact that the structure has been inspected by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and is “Safe Certified.”

I would like to personally thank First United Methodist Church of Cocoa Beach for taking advantage of this Crime Prevention initiative and also thank Cpl. Hibbs and Corrections Deputy Blazewicz for all they do to make this program so successful!!
