Motorists will see open flames through the night as the fire burns up to the water

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida Forest Service is fighting a brush fire burning along State Road 50 near the Brevard County line that broke out on Sunday.

The fire, which consumed more than 250 acres, started Sunday afternoon where State Road 520 passes the St. Johns River.

According to the Florida Forest Service, 50 percent of the blaze is contained.

“Motorists will see open flames through the night as the fire burns up to the water. Use caution on State Road 520 at the St, Johns River–Lone Cabbage area,” said the Florida Forest Service in a Facebook post.
