Florida Tech Panthers Finish Fifth at Matlock Classic, Panther Invitational Set March 4-6 In Viera

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech was impressive in the third round of the 37th Matlock Collegiate Classic on Tuesday and ascended into a tie for fifth overall in the final standings at Lone Palm Golf Club.

Entering the final round in a tie for 10th overall, the Panthers carded a team score of 9-under 279 on Tuesday to jump up five spots and finish at 10-under 854 (286-289-279) for the three rounds. Florida Southern won the overall championship at 29-under 835 (280-276-279) and Barry (-23) and West Florida (-20) rounded out the top three.

Max O’Hagan, who shot a 3-under 69 in the final round, finished alongside teammate Gaelen Trew in a tie for 13th at 2-under 214 for the tournament. The best round of the day for the Panthers belonged to Ali Thurlow, who tallied a 4-under 68 to rise into a tie for 32nd at 1-over 217.

Shanren Brienen and Han Xue carded 70 (-2) and 77 (+5), respectively, and each finished at 2-over 218 in a tie for 36th.

After a two-week layoff, Florida Tech is back in action hosting the Panther Invitational on Mar. 4-6 at Duran Golf Club in Viera, Florida.
