Palm Bay Magnet High, Florida Tech Unveil Dual-Enrollment ‘Pirates to Panthers’ Academy Program

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Magnet High and Florida Institute of Technology announced Tuesday their exclusive dual-enrollment program, the Pirates to Panthers “P2P” Academy.

Through the dual-enrollment program, students will attend classes at Florida Tech’s campus and earn college credits at no-cost to the student.

Academy courses will begin being offered during the 2018-2019 school year. The program is designed to prepare students for success in industries unique to the Space Coast.

All incoming and current Brevard Public Schools’ high school students are welcome to apply. Students can take courses in many subjects such as engineering, robotics, game design, computer programming and bioscience.

If a student earns a grade of B or higher in two of the P2P courses, they will be accepted into Florida Tech after graduating high school, if they wish to continue their education at the university.

An information night is planned for April 12 at 6 p.m. at Palm Bay Magnet High’s auditorium, located at 101 Pirate Lane in Melbourne.
