UPDATE: Over 50 Rounds Shot Outside Melbourne Restaurant Involving Multiple Shooters, Two Injured

Melbourne Police are investigating a shooting involving multiple shooters that occurred outside Lizzy’s restaurant located on 1301 East University Boulevard in Melbourne Tuesday evening.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police are investigating a shooting involving multiple shooters that occurred outside Lizzy’s restaurant located on 1301 East University Boulevard in Melbourne Tuesday evening.

According to Melbourne Police, one victim suffered minor injuries and was treated and released. At this time, only one other victim is known.

Police say they received 911 calls around 6:37 p.m. Tuesday night regarding a disturbance involving numerous people shooting firearms.

A spokesman with the Melbourne Police Department described what officers encountered when they first arrived.

“At the time of this incident, there was a large crowd of patrons ranging of all ages. The large crowd made it difficult for the initial responding officers to determine who may have been involved, but ultimately it was discovered that those responsible had left the scene prior to our arrival.”

Police noted that the restaurant does not have indoor seating and serves food to customers who usually take their orders with them or eat at their cars in the parking lot.

“Evidence at the scene indicates there were multiple people participating in the shooting with over 50 rounds fired,” said a Melbourne Police spokesman.

“Members of the Melbourne Police Department are actively investigating this incident and encourage anyone with information to call Det. Amy Perez at 321-608-6731 or Crime Line.”
