SPACE COAST DAILY TV: Space Coast Daily’s Alan Zlotorzynski spent some time today at Mike Erdman Toyota on Merritt Island with Speer Mabry, one of the area’s top authorities on Toyota’s line of cars and trucks. Mabry, a 10-year top sales associate for Mike Erdman Toyota, demonstrated and drove for Space Coast Daily the brand new 2018 Toyota Tundra – sit back and enjoy the ride!
BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The expression, “A truck that drives like a car but does everything you need a truck to do,” is the best description of the “refreshed” 2018 Tundra, now available at Mike Erdman Toyota on the 520 Causeway in Merritt Island.
For 2018, Toyota has made a bunch of changes to the Tundra, which is available in SR, SR5, Limited, 1794 Edition, Platinum, TRD Pro and TRD Sport trim levels.
The regular cab model has been dropped and buyers will fall in love with the stylish and new TRD Sport. Every Tundra has an updated look outside thanks to new grille and headlight designs.
All Tundras are powered by V-8 engines; a 310-horsepower 4.6-liter is standard on SR and SR5, while a muscular, 381-horsepower 5.7-liter V-8 comes on all other models. Every Tundra’s V-8 is mated to a 6-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard on most models, and four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case is available.
Trucks.com tested the Tundra’s 5.7-liter V8 with 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque and gave it a nice review “It is gutsy, powerful and fun to press to the floor,” said the online review.
In this video with Speer Mabry we drove the Tundra CrewMax, which is more popular, and for a reason. Its back seat is spacious, with plenty of stretch-out room and a comfortable bench that folds up for large item storage.
Trucks.com noted that the Tundra provides the grunt necessary for job sites. Its maximum payload capacity is 1,730 pounds, and maximum towing is 10,200 pounds and a gross combined maximum towing rating of 16,000 pounds.
“The ride is comfortable with little outside wind or road noise.”
Of course, there is safety, which Toyota has taken to a new level in the auto industry with Toyota Safety Sense.
The Tundra comes standard with the Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, eight airbags and ToyotaCare.
The ToyotaCare plan covers normal factory scheduled service for two years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first. 24-hour roadside assistance is also included for two years, regardless of mileage.
The Erdman Automotive Group knows how to take care of their customers and for buying your Tundra at their Toyota dealership you’ll also receive the Erdman Automotive Family Plan.
Every new Toyota gets a lifetime powertrain warranty, which on a 4×4 Tundra is a huge bonus. The plan also comes with four more years of maintenance, five years of roadside assistance and complimentary car or truck washes.
