BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL. FLORIDA – SpaceX Founder Elon Musk partied hearty at Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill at Port Canaveral in celebration of the historic launch of his Falcon Heavy Rocket on Tuesday afternoon from Kennedy Space Center’s iconic Pad 39A.
Musk, wearing a black t-shirt and jeans, exclaimed to the crowd, “we just launched the biggest rocket in the world!”
He then hoisted a glass of beer and said, “cheers!” to celebrate the most significant launch from Brevard County since NASA’s Space Shuttle Atlantis blasted off for the last time on July 8, 2011, from the very same Launch Pad 39A.
The enthusiastic crowd of both SpaceX employees and locals then began to chant, “USA, USA, USA!”
Falcon Heavy is the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two, with the ability to lift into orbit nearly 64 metric tons (141,000 lb)–a mass greater than a 737 jetliner loaded with passengers, crew, luggage and fuel.
The Falcon Heavy’s first stage is composed of three Falcon 9 nine-engine cores whose 27 Merlin engines together generate more than 5 million pounds of thrust at liftoff, equal to approximately eighteen 747 aircraft.
Only the Saturn V moon rocket, last flown in 1973, delivered more payload to orbit.
President Donald Trump congratulated SpaceX and founder Elon Musk on the historic Falcon Heavy launch on Tuesday.
“Congratulations Elon Musk and SpaceX on the successful Falcon Heavy launch. This achievement, along with NASA’s commercial and international partners, continues to show American ingenuity at its best!”

Falcon Heavy also made history by landing side boosters shortly after liftoff. The side boosters both landed on SpaceX’s Landing Zones 1 and 2. The wait for confirmation on the center stage is on-going which was supposed to land on a drone ship in the Atlantic ocean.
