Florida Tech’s Victor Rocha Furtado Named to All-SSC Team for Second Consecutive Season

Filip Dujmic and Yagoh Kubagawa earn spots on All-SSC Honorable Mention squad

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – After successful seasons in the pool for Florida Tech, three Panther swimmers have been named to the 2017-18 All-SSC Men’s Swimming Team.

Victor Rocha Furtado represents FIT on the All-SSC First Team for the second consecutive season while Filip Dujmic and Yagoh Kubagawa earned spots on the All-SSC Honorable Mention squad.

Rocha Furtado had another stellar performance at the SSC Championships on Feb. 22-25 at the Long Center in Clearwater, Florida. The junior won two individual events and recorded a third-place finish during the week.

Rocha Furtado took first, and set a new school and conference meet record, in the 50 freestyle final with an A-cut time of 19.72. The Sao Paolo, Brazil native then defended his title in the 100 freestyle, ending with a B-cut time of 43.86. He finished third in the 100 butterfly and set a B-cut time of 48.09 in the event.

Victor Rocha Furtado had a stellar performance at the SSC Championships Feb. 22-25 at the Long Center in Clearwater, Florida. The junior won two individual events and recorded a third-place finish during the week.

For Dujmic, this is his first career selection to the All-SSC teams. The Split, Croatia product finished second overall in the 100 butterfly final at the SSC Championships with a new school record and B-cut time of 47.38.

He took second in the 50 freestyle final, just behind Rocha Furtado, with a B-cut time of 20.01. Dujmic then took fifth in the 100 freestyle final at a B-cut time of 44.73.

Rocha Furtado and Dujmic teamed up in a number of relays during the SSC Championships. The two Panthers were part of the Florida Tech relays that won the SSC Championship in the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle and took third place in the 200 and 400 medley relays.

Kubagawa is making his second career appearance on the All-SSC teams after earning All-SSC Second Team honors in 2014-15. The senior also had a strong week at the SSC Championships.

He placed fifth in the finals of the 200 individual medley in a school-record and B-cut time of 1:49.84. The Sao Paolo, Brazil product also earned fifth place in the 400 individual medley in a B-cut time of 3:57.63.

Kubagawa posted a B-cut time of 1:50.29 in the 200 butterfly finals and then took seventh in the 200 backstroke in a time of 1:50.86.
