BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools teacher Jane Araguez received the Governor’s Shine Award on Wednesday.
The award is presented to teachers and administrators in Florida who make significant contributions to the field of education. Araguez was one of eight outstanding educators recognized during Governor Rick Scott’s Cabinet meeting.
“Florida educators go above and beyond to help students get a quality education, and I’m proud to recognize these outstanding educators today,” said Gov. Scott.
“In Florida, we support our teachers so they have every resource they need to help students succeed.”
Araguez is the school district’s 2017 teacher of the year and she teaches kindergarten at Saturn Elementary in Cocoa, Fla. She has been an educator for 13 years and is a national board certified teacher.
“Ms. Araguez is a shining example for the profession of education as a whole. She not only delivers exemplary instruction to our youngest students in Kindergarten, but she also gives of herself tirelessly to the Saturn family,” said Saturn Elementary Principal Janice Rutherford.
“Ms. Araguez develops authentic relationships with all students and learning community members. These bonds formed with students at such an early age have an everlasting effect on our students’ connection to school. Ms. Araguez makes a difference in the lives of so many and inspires hope for all. Congratulations Jane, we are so proud of you!”
