Solaris Senior Living Merritt Island To Host Free End-of-Life Care Options Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Solaris Senior Living Merritt Island is holding a series of educational lectures this spring rich in information, insight and tips for good health.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Solaris Senior Living Merritt Island is holding a series of educational lectures this spring rich in information, insight and tips for good health.

The lectures, which are free and open to the public, will begin with a presentation on Tuesday, March 6 at 4:30 p.m. about palliative care and end-of-life care assistance.

Entitled “What is Palliative Care,”  this presentation will be held at Solaris Senior Living, located at 535 Crockett Boulevard on Merritt Island. No RSVP is required.

Speaker Andy Robinson, LPN with St. Francis Pathways, will explain how to form a support network, how palliative care eases the strain on caregivers and patients and more.

“Families often ask how end-of-life care is covered financially, and how often patients are seen by a palliative specialist. I look forward to addressing all of that at Tuesday’s seminar,” Robinson said.

Robinson has more than 20 years’ experience in medical and hospice care, having served as a rehab therapy tech, an admissions nurse, and as the Pathways Program Manager for St. Francis Pathways.

All seminars in the series will include a question and answer session, and light refreshments will be served.

THURSDAY, APRIL 9: Gastroenterologist Dr. Murali Krishna leads the second event in the lecture series, with a 9 a.m. Thursday, April 12th presentation on “Improving Digestive Health: Managing GERD, IBS and more.”

Dr. Krishna’s lecture will also be held at Solaris Senior Living and will cover causes, symptoms and treatments for common digestive issues.

Dr. Krishna is board certified in gastroenterology, internal medicine and nutrition, and has practiced in Florida for more than 10 years.

TUESDAY, APRIL 17: Solaris Senior Living will host Dr. Arthur Arnold’s talk, entitled “Focus on Prevention: Lower Your Risk of Diabetes and Heart Disease.” He will cover common risk factors and healthy lifestyle choices that help deter chronic conditions.

Dr. Arnold’s career includes 34 years’ experience in family medicine and includes a focus on elder care, wound care, and hyperbarics.
