SPACE COAST DAILY CRIME WATCH: West Melbourne Police officials discuss the arrested of a 15-year-old student for making a threat against  Central Middle School Wednesday morning.

BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – West Melbourne Police have arrested a 15-year-old student for making a threat against his former middle school Wednesday morning, Central Middle School. 

Authorities have charged the teen with a second-degree felony crime of making false report concerning the use of a firearm.

Police say a school resource officer received information from a student who saw the threat on social media.

The threat mentioned the use of a gun and threatening his former middle school, according to detectives.

The teen qualifies for a secure detention and will be incarcerated at the Juvenile Detention Center.
