Teen Victim ID’d In Titusville Deadly Shooting, Suspect Arrested and Charged With First Degree Murder

Titusville Police have released the victim’s name in a homicide investigation that began Sunday on Third Ave. near Booker St. in Titusville.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville Police have released the victim’s name in a homicide investigation that began Sunday afternoon on Third Ave. near Booker St. in Titusville.

Police identified the murder victim as 16-year-old Johntreavean Lashawn Tilley from Titusville. Tilley was transported to a local hospital on Sunday with gunshot wounds, but later died as a result from his injuries.

Titusville Police say they have arrested 17-year-old Erien Dah’mir Jaquez Hampton, of Titusville, and charged him with first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the investigation, the suspect fled on foot after shooting Tilley on Third Ave. Shortly after the shooting, a witness confronted him and the suspect pointed the handgun at the witness. After the witness backed off, the suspect continued fleeing on foot.

Officers located Hampton on Nova Terrace a short time later.

Police say the investigation has revealed that Hampton and Tilley have had a prior dispute.

The incident is still an active homicide investigation.
