Palm Bay Fire Rescue recommends motorists avoid Micco Road

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Interstate 95 is now reopened as firefighters from several agencies have battled a 650-acre brush fire in South Brevard since Sunday and smoke from fire shut down Interstate 95 from Malabar Road south to Indian River early Monday morning. 

More than 25 units from Brevard County Fire Rescue, Palm Bay Fire, Florida Forest Service and Brevard County helicopters battled the brush fire in Palm Bay near Micco Preserve since Sunday. No property is in danger.

On Sunday, Babcock Street was shut down in the area of Sotile Canal and Micco Road and Palm Bay Fire Rescue and the Florida Highway Patrol recommended motorists avoid the Micco Road area.

The blaze had jumped to the east side of Babcock Street and required air drops.
