IRS is expecting more than 155 million returns to be filed this season

The Internal Revenue Service page for paying your tax bill using your bank account has crashed about 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The Internal Revenue Service page for paying your tax bill using your bank account has crashed about 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The IRS Direct Pay page allows the transfer of funds from your checking or savings account to pay your tax bill.

According to IRS Acting Commissioner David Kautter, a number of systems are down at the moment and that they are working to resolve the issue.

Currently, taxpayers also cannot set up a Payment Plan on the IRS site.

The IRS is expecting more than 155 million returns to be filed this season.
