Freight Train Runs Over Pedestrian Laying On Tracks In Titusville

Titusville Police responded to a incident that involved a freight train running over a pedestrian who was laying in the tracks early Saturday morning.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville Police responded to a incident that involved a freight train running over a pedestrian who was laying in the tracks early Saturday morning.

Police say they responded to the report at around 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of Hopkins Ave. and Harrison St.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the freight train was traveling northbound and struck the victim who was laying lengthwise in between the tracks.

The train conductor attempted to stop the train but was unable to stop before making impact with the victim.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the incident remains under investigation by the Department and the identity of the pedestrian will be released when the next of kin has been notified.
