Gov. Scott Releases Statement On USDA’s Announcement of $2.36 Billion In Aid To Florida’s Citrus Industry

Florida’s citrus growers lost an estimated $760 million due to Hurricane Irma
TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA – Governor Rick Scott made the following statement regarding the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s announcement of $2.36 billion in funding to aid the agricultural industry’s recovery from wildfires and hurricanes in 2017.
Details on the aid for Florida’s Citrus industry’s recovery are still being decided by the USDA.
“Immediately following Hurricane Irma, I traveled to Washington and met with Congress to personally advocate on behalf of our iconic citrus industry,” Gov. Rick Scott.
“Since then, I have had multiple calls and meetings with federal officials and our agricultural industry to ensure that our state can fully recover. Florida’s citrus growers lost an estimated $760 million due to Hurricane Irma, one of the largest storms in Florida history. Although today’s announcement is positive, I am still going to continue fighting until Florida’s citrus growers receive the federal help they deserve.”
