Driver suffers serious injuries, Passenger suffers minor injuries

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a crash involving a motorcycle and a single gunshot fired, as both, the driver and passenger were ejected onto the roadway along W. New Haven Ave. and Vista Lake Cir. on Thursday in Melbourne.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a crash involving a motorcycle and a single gunshot fired, as both, the driver and passenger were ejected onto the roadway along W. New Haven Ave. and Vista Lake Cir. on Thursday in Melbourne.

The driver of the motorcycle has been identified as a 32-year-old man, Brian Alexander, from Melbourne.

Alexander suffered serious injuries after he lost control of his 1984 Honda motorcycle and was ejected from the bike and shot, when a gun he was carrying in a holster on his hip, shot him once in the leg, as he landed on the pavement from the ejection.

The passenger on the motorcycle has been identified as 36-year-old woman, Alexis Travis, from Rockledge. Travis suffered minor injuries from the crash.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m.

The driver and passenger were wearing helmets.

Both, Mr. Alexander and Ms. Travis, were transported to Holmes Regional, according to Lt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol.

Florida Highway Patrol does not yet know what caused Alexander to lose control of the motorcycle.
