fire on Thursday knocked out power to transfer station

Residential waste collection in South Brevard County to resume as normal.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Power was restored just before noon today to the County’s Sarno Transfer Station in Melbourne, allowing residential waste collection in South Brevard County to resume as normal.

A fire that occurred Thursday had knocked power off to the transfer station, including a backup generator.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but concerns the outage would delay some residential waste collection Friday in South Brevard County into Saturday have been allayed.

As of Friday afternoon, operations at the Sarno Transfer Station were deemed “back to normal.”
