Police: body appears to be a white male in his 50s or older

Authorities in Cocoa are investigating a suspicious death on Friday after a body was discovered in a wooded area just north of the Walmart in Cocoa.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Authorities in Cocoa are investigating a suspicious death on Friday after a body was discovered in a wooded area just north of the Walmart in Cocoa off Clearlake Rd.

Police say the area is a known homeless camp.

Officers first responded to the area around 3:30 p.m. when BCSO deputies were alerted in the Walmart parking lot by a man who ran from the campsite to report the body.

When deputies and patrol officers arrived, three individuals were detained and are currently being interviewed, according Yvonne Martinez of the Cocoa Police Department.

Investigators say the body found is an unidentified white male “in his fifties or older.”

The circumstances surrounding the man’s death are being investigated.

Crime scene technicians are documenting the scene and gathering physical evidence to support the investigation.
