BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville police arrested Diderot Suffrena, 36, of Apopka, Florida, who is a suspect in a violent attack and attempted sexual battery on a hotel staff worker at Quality Inn, located at 3655 Cheney Highway in Titusville.
According to the Titusville police, shortly before noon on Monday, a female employee of the Quality Inn was entering a hotel room to provide maid service. An unidentified suspect in the room, who was not a guest of the hotel, attacked the employee.
“The suspect strangled the victim and punched her repeatedly while attempting to sexually assault her,” Titusville police officials said in a release. “The victim was able to fight off the attacker and flee the room to get help.”
Arriving officers found that the suspect had fled in a black colored Mercedes Benz with damage to the front passenger side. An alert then went out countywide for the suspect vehicle.
“Shortly before 4 p.m., Brevard County Deputies stopped a vehicle on Ember Avenue in Cocoa that matched the description of the suspect and his vehicle tag,” said Titusville police officials.
“The driver was positively identified by the victim and matched to surveillance video from the hotel.”
The female victim, who is in her 20s, was treated at a local hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
“This was a horrific, violent attack,” said Titusville Police Deputy Chief Todd Hutchinson.
“Our investigators will be vigorously retracing his previous activity as they are deeply concerned about the level of violence by this suspect.”
Suffrena, who was arrested within hours of the incident, was booked into Brevard County Jail for Sexual Battery, Aggravated Battery With Strangulation and Occupied Burglary.
